The green-eyed monster....

I think the worst problem of the older son was jealousy. He was jealous because he felt cheated by his father. The younger son had been able to have his inheritance early while the older son stayed home and worked. He expected the father to show the younger son no mercy. After all, the older son had never harassed his father about any inheritance. He had always worked hard and obeyed his father. Instead, he comes in from working only to hear the party of the century going on, and he doesn’t even know why. When the older son finds out his brother is back, he doesn’t run in and embrace his brother. He became angry and refused to go in. He sat outside and sulked! He couldn’t understand why his little brother deserved more credit than he did. His father hadn’t ever given him a party, not even a small one! Finally the father came out and explained. By running away, the younger son had discovered what the older son had failed to learn. It was the younger son’s choice to go back, and he had to learn to let go of his pride before he could come home. Because he had never had to be accountable for his own choices, the older son didn’t understand the concept of humbleness. Jesus told us there would be more rejoicing in heaven over one loss sinner who repents than over ninety-nine people who don’t believe they need to repent. I believe this is the point Jesus was trying to make.

Impressed and amazed!

Franklin Graham cover's a series of topics in his auto-biography, and if I made a list of everything that impressed me, it would go on for a while. I believe the one thing that impressed me the most about Franklin's ministry was the way he trusted in God. Franklin went into some of the worst places imaginable, yet he trusted in God to keep him safe. He had so much responsibility laid on him, but he took it all in stride. That's not to say he didn't get discouraged, he simply never gave up. I was also impressed by all the support he received from friends, fans, and family. God knew when Franklin needed encouragement the most, and He always provided someone or something at a precise moment to give Franklin encouragement. I loved this book because I had the unique opportunity to look back into Franklin’s life and see how God cleared the way for Franklin and how God used one man's life to accomplish so much. This was a truly amazing book!

Hey guys! First off, I want to explain why I haven't gotten up my post before now. I've had a really busy weekend, and I haven't had much time to get on the computer. I would also like to adress something about the publishing of comments. From what I understand, we are the captains of our blogs, and we all have the right to choose which comments we publish and which ones we reject. Faith

I believe the notion of God room is so amazing. I think God loves to astound us by performing the impossible. I would definitely have loved Bob Pierce. He had such a unique faith in God. He worked his very hardest to do his best for God, yet, at the end of the day, he knew God’s will would be accomplished. He had faith that no matter what he could or could not accomplish, he could lay it before God’s feet and know that it would be taken care of. I believe that the whole concept of God room can be wrapped up in that one little word: faith. Faith in the fact that God will take care of us. Faith in the fact that God knows exactly what we need and will provide it for us exactly when we need it. God room helps me to reflect on the simple fact that I am a princess of the King of kings, and my father will always take care of me!

Rebel freedom!

In her book Prodigal girl, Grace Livingston Hill tells about the life of a spoiled teenage girl, Betty, who was always given anything she wanted, but never what she really needed. When her father realized what his little girl had become, he quickly made the decision to remove her from all temptation. Similarly, in his book Rebel with a Cause, Franklin Graham relates how he was sent to boarding school when his parents found out some of the things he had gotten into. Franklin says, “Instead of getting my esteem from achieving within the system, I got my thrills and identity from challenging the system. I was following the classic pattern of every rebel.” Franklin and Betty both wanted to push the limits as far as they could stretch them. They didn’t realize that most of the rules were put there to protect them. All they could concentrate on was the fact that someone was trying to tell them what to do, and they simply couldn’t stand that. Betty felt her father was confining her to a prison, and Franklin simply wanted ultimate freedom. What both of them came to realize is the fact that God is the only one who can bring everlasting freedom from the one thing that can keep us all in chains, our sin. Once Franklin and Betty came to realize this, their lives started to reflect the freedom they found in God. Betty started to love her family and spend time with them again. Franklin has become one of the most influential preachers of our time. Anyone can fight for freedom, but only God can give you ultimate freedom.

Just Trust

There are some things of which I am absolutely sure. One of them being I don't have to be absolutely sure about everything. In Matthew 6:28-30, Jesus said, “And why worry about your clothing? Look at the lilies of the field and how they grow. They don’t work or make their clothing, yet Solomon in all his glory was not dressed as beautifully as they are. And if God cares so wonderfully for wildflowers that are here today and thrown into the fire tomorrow, he will certainly care for you. Why do you have so little faith?" Many people worry about their grades, their looks, their jobs, and much more, yet God sums up all our worries in one word: trust. That's it. No long essays to write or thick books to read or fancy equations to work out. Just trust. It’s not easy. Trusting in someone you can't physically see, hear, or touch is difficult, but it is the greatest thing you can do. So the next time you lose something or start to worry about all the things you have to do but can't seem to get done, just trust. God always gives us exactly what we can handle, no matter how much it may seem. Don’t worry about tomorrow, because tomorrow will have worries of its own. Trust in God to see you through today. Of one thing I am absolutely sure: He is everything I need to know.

This is me

Hey everyone! As my first post, I think I should tell you a bit about me(hence the title name). First off, I'm 16 years old, I love writing, but I love reading so much more. There's just something special about picking up a book and seeing where it will take me. Trust me, I never know where I might end up! I voluteer at the library and I must say it is one of the big highlights of my week. I probably spend more time looking at interesting books I find than actually working.
Like I said, I love to write also. One of the things I love about writing is the freedom I have. Yes, a teacher may give me a certain subject to write on, but writing gives me the oppertunity to take that subject and make it my own. I have the freedom to turn any thought into a beautiful work of art.
Ok, so I've about two of my favorite things, but I also like several other things as well. For example, music. I love music and movies! I also like almost any mexican or italian food. I love animals! I have one cat, and she is spoiled rotten!
I love my family more than anything in this world. They are so special to me and I would give up anything and everything for them. I love traveling as well! In 2007, my mom bought an RV and took us for a 7 1/2 month trip all across America. I've been all the way to California to Maine and back again. I have seen some beautiful territory and some territory that was anything but.
One final thing, I absolutely love God more than anything! He is my everything. Whatever this crazy life throws at me, I know I can count on Him to get me through. He never gives up on me, no matter how bad I mess up. He is my constant friend and father.
